Volunteer– Volunteers are what make democracy work, and we are always happy to have more helping hands. From research to canvassing, from hosting small house parties to making calls to voters, from writing post cards to taking meeting minutes, from handling ZOOM meetings to greeting newcomers, from writing letters to local papers to scouring the internet for local events – if you can offer us some time and energy, we have a role specially made for you.

Run for Office – We are always looking for committed Democrats to run for local office. Local issues, like property taxes, public safety, and education, often impact our lives the most. Running for Town Council, Board of Education, or Mayor isn’t easy, but it’s one of the most important things we can do for our community.

Become a Manchester “Municipal Committee” Person – Also referred to as a “County Committee” person, the County Committee is a democratic body of elected committee persons with a delegation of 2 Democratic members from each voting district in each municipality of the County. Each County Committee person serves as a representative of their voting district. A voting district is defined as a continuous geographical region that votes at a designated voting location. In other words, everyone in your voting district has the same polling location.
Their role is to promote the Democratic platform in County and Municipal governments by growing grassroots support, assisting candidates running for office, and providing a community of like-minded Democrats to enhance our local and national goals. This is an elected position. The current term is from June 2022 to June 2026. However, there are currently 39 seats vacant (out of the potential 80). You can read more about what the responsibilities are at the Ocean County Democratic Committee’s website, HERE. If you are interested and you live in one of the districts where there is a vacancy, there is a process to appoint members. Contact us for more information.
